    Infinity Ward has released a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 patch on PC through Steam to fix a handful of hacks, glitches and exploits as well as segregate pirates.
    • Fix for latest texture hacks
    • Fix to prevent players from getting inside geo
    • Fix to prevent players with illegally pirated copies of Modern Warfare 2 from matchmaking with legitimate Modern Warfare 2 players
    • Connection improvements for NAT-PMP routers
    • Fix for "elevator" glitch that allows players to get out of playable area

    Following up on its promise that the public beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC would kick off "very early" in 2010, developer EA DICE has announced the beta will run January 28 through February 25, 2010 along with several other details.

    Perhaps most notable of the assorted revelations is word that "there will not be mod tools for BFBC2" though "there will be Serverside control options" available on rented dedicated servers, with the entirety of today's announcement viewable below:

    While it's only been about two months since Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hit store shelves and shattered countless sales records, rumors of the studio's next project and the inevitable Modern Warfare 3 are already making the rounds.


    Citing "industry sources," Destructoid claims Infinity Ward's next will be a massively mulitplayer online game, with the studio reportedly hiring Sony Online Entertainment (EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies, PlanetSide) veterans and possibly getting help from fellow Activision Blizzard studio Blizzard (World of Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft).
    Whether this turns out to be the oft-mentioned Call of Duty MMO or not, franchise owner Activision is still likely to continue releasing annual entries in the popular series.
